Scott founded Spicer's Consulting in early 2009. He puts relationships, compassion and quality results at the forefront of what he does. The brand was created after Scott spent time on career exploration while in the San Francisco Bay Area. What started as an idea to found a new national non profit model, evolved into a business that focused on garnering resources privately, to eventually reinvest in a broader grass roots community initiative.
Scott has been in the healthcare field for nearly 20 years and started his full time career after completing a Master's degree in Public Health with an emphasis in Global Health, at Loma Linda University. He has lived and worked in Southern and Northern California, Southwest Michigan and the Portland, Oregon area where he resides with his spouse and two children.
During his career path, while building Spicer's Consulting and contracting with a handful of local, regional and national organizations, Scott has worked for non profit grass roots organizations, a large public University, behavioral health service organizations and in corporate healthcare. Scott has worked in healthcare and behavioral health, sales, account management and business development since 2007. In 2018, Scott started his current career path in health care sales, account management and business development. He has been doing this work full time in the behavioral health field since late 2019 and transitioned to work in mental health and addiction treatment doing business development and clinical outreach for private treatment centers serving the commercially insured, in July 2022.
As an entrepreneur, Scott is a self taught digital marketer. He began creating and writing blogs in 2007, taught himself basic website design, content creation and management and social media marketing not too long after that. Scott also started successful online fundraising campaigns and worked under contract for a new fundraising company between 2010-2013.
Scott has led the charge in developing brands and national campaigns for a variety of causes including as a volunteer leader and founder of a small international non profit foundation focused on grant making initiatives in the social science arena. He has been successful in using minimal resources and organizing teams to create, launch and oversee a handful of causes with integrated and cutting edge, PR, marketing, web, e-mail and social media platforms.
Scott has a strong passion for supporting and advocating for others. He has two and a half years of experience in the prevention and community organizing arena, 5 years of experience in mental health recovery peer services and spent the first 4 plus years of his career path in corporate healthcare working for an employee assistance program and with Medicare group retirees.
During this time, Scott gained hands on experience with assisting employees, their loved ones and caregivers and retirees with navigating complicated life challenges, researching and making referrals to resources and advising on challenging circumstances related to child care, career, life, financial and resource needs. In addition, he gained expertise in elder care advising, disability supports and advocacy, along with his lived experience growing up with a disability, in recovery from a traumatic brain injury at the age of 4.
Scott's lived experience with disability and mental health challenges has had a profound impact on his life path. He's had the opportunity to provide 1:1 assistance, advocate for systems change, coach, train and support individuals in community based and corporate health care environments.
He brings a unique set of passions to his work as an entreprenuer. The vision for Spicer's Consulting goes beyond business and this company was founded with the intention of investing private capital in the public good.
